The Council on Quality and Leadership
The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL), has been at the forefront of the movement to improve the quality of services and supports for people with intellectual disabilities and people with mental health issues.  It began with the fundamental belief that everyone has a right to a life of dignity, opportunity and community inclusion.  The Council on Quality and Leadership provides accreditation for services based on their Personal Outcomes Measures.

British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD)
The British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) is committed to improving the quality of life for the 1.2 million people in the UK with a learning disability.

Council of Europe
The Council was set up to defend human rights, parliamentary democracy and the rule of law; develop continent-wide agreements to standardise member countries' social and legal practices and promote awareness of a European identity based on shared values and cutting across different cultures.

Council of Europe: Disability Action Plan 2006: Recommendation Rec(2006)5 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the Council of Europe Action Plan to promote the rights and full participation of people with disabilities in society: improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in Europe 2006-2015 - adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 5 April 2006.
Supporting people who experience disabilities and exhibit, what some have called, "difficult behaviours".  David's view would be, what's most needed when supporting someone who engages in difficult behaviours is imagination. 
David's practice is based upon a simple idea;- difficult behaviours result from unmet needs.  In a sense, difficult behaviours are messages which can tell us important things about a person and the quality of his or her life.
Disability Rights Commission - UK
The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is an independent body established in April 2000 in the UK by an Act of Parliament to stop discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. Their goal is to have "a society where all disabled people can participate fully as equal citizens".

The European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) promotes the equalisation of opportunities for people with disabilities through effective and high quality service systems in Europe.  EASPD represents approx. 8,000 service providers providing services to approx. 40 million people with disabilities throughout Europe.

European Disability Forum (EDF)
EDF is a European umbrella organisation representing more than 50 million disabled people in Europe. Its mission is to ensure disabled citizens' full access to fundamental and human rights through their active involvement in policy development and implementation in the European Union.

European Parliament Disability Intergroup
The European Parliament Disability Intergroup is a cross party group of the Members of the European Parliament from each of the 25 EU Member States supporting the rights of people with disabilities.

Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities
The UK organisation, Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities, promote the rights, quality of life and opportunities of people with learning disabilities and their families.

Health-EU - Public Health portal of the European Union
The Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General is pleased to present the Health-EU Portal (the official public health portal of the European Union) and the wide range of information and data on health-related issues and activities at both European and international level.  Information for people with disabilities can be accessed here.

The International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities is an international and interdisciplinary scientific non governmental organization promoting worldwide research and exchange of information on intellectual disabilities.  IASSID is the first and only world-wide group dedicated to the scientific study of intellectual disability.

ICF Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health
ICF is a classification of health and health related domains that describe body functions and structures, activities and participation. The domains are classified from body, individual and societal perspectives. Since an individual's functioning and disability occurs in a context, ICF also includes a list of environmental factors.

Inclusion International
Inclusion International (II) is a global federation of family-based organisations advocating for the human rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their families worldwide.

International Disability Alliance
The International Disability Alliance - IDA represents more than 600 million people in the world with a disability. The alliance is composed by the following eight international organisations of and for people with disabilities: Inclusion International, International Federation of Hard of Hearing People, World Blind Union, Disabled Peoples' International, Rehabilitation International, World Federation of the Deaf, World Federation of the Deafblind, World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry.
Kendrick Consulting is a very small specialized international consulting firm principally focused on leadership and emerging developments in the fields of disability, mental health and aging. It undertakes work with governments, non-government organizations and many grass roots initiatives devoted to the needs, issues and rights of disadvantaged people. Its consequent focus is on innovation, quality, change, leadership and other technical aspects of creating sound solutions of a very advanced calibre.  

Mencap is the UK's leading learning disability charity working with people with a learning disability and their families and carers.

Rehabilitation International
Founded in 1922, RI is a global network of people with disabilities, service providers, researchers, government agencies and advocates promoting and implementing the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities.  RI is currently composed of over 700 members and affiliated organizations in nearly 100 nations, in all regions of the world. RI has well-established partnerships with the UN and its agencies as well as other international and regional organizations.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is a department of the United Nations Secretariat. It is mandated to promote and protect the enjoyment and full realization, by all people, of all rights established in the Charter of the United Nations and in international human rights laws and treaties. This website includes all the core international human rights instruments and their monitoring bodies.  Some of these include:
